Don’t Settle

Don’t Settle

When the going gets tough, when I feel exhausted, worn out, discouraged and just want to curl up in a ball and watch Netflix for a week straight, there’s something important I repeat to myself: Don’t Settle.

These two simple words have acted as a powerful mantra for many years now and effectively re-motivate me to achieve my dreams. They remind me that it’s okay to stumble and miss a step, but that it’s more important to keep moving forward. That if I’m tired it’s okay to rest, but it’s not okay to give up.

These two little words remind me that what I truly desire to have, to experience and to become during my short stay on this earth is worth the effort to achieve. That I, and my goals, deserve more. And that we shouldn’t settle for less than we deserve.

Today, I want to be the gentle, loving voice in your ear that whispers, “Don’t settle.”

Don’t settle for less than you desire…

Don’t settle for less health than you desire just because it’s hard to get up early and exercise.

Don’t settle for less excitement and adventure than you desire just because it takes time to save up the money you need to go exploring.

Don’t settle for less love and fulfilling relationships than you desire just because it requires an uncomfortable conversation with your partner.

Don’t settle for less enlightenment or learning opportunities than you desire because you feel exhausted when you have a moment to yourself.

Don’t settle for less financial wellbeing than you desire just because it’ll take effort to get yourself organized.

I want to reassure you that the effort required to go after what you truly desire is SO worth it! Yes, it will take time. All good things do. But no, it won’t be time wasted.

“This time next year, you’ll wish you had started today.”

Even if you can only take one tiny step in the direction you want to go, I encourage you to do it. It’s not how BIG your actions are, it’s that you’re taking action consistently.

These words, this motivational narrative, is what I choose to repeat in my mind when I’m feeling low and uninspired.

My deepest desire is that they inspire you too and that you will choose not to settle for less than you truly desire in this life.

You’ve got this!
